Newcastle Football Shirts
Newcastle United Football Club fans are often referred to as the Toon Army ,because of the Geordian way of saying Town, or Magpies, referring to the colours. Geordie is a regional nickname for those from the Newcastle area.
The club traditionally is one of the best supported in the country based on the high average home attendance record. Club supporters even publish fanzines such as True Faith and The Mag. Suffice it to say that Newcastle United fans are die-hard fans.
Newcastle’s biggest rival is with Sunderland and matches between the two have come to be known as the Tyne-Wear derby. The towns are only 10 miles apart so friends and co-workers are often divided in their loyalties. Middlesbrough is another rival and their matches are known as the Tyne-Tees derby. The club’s colours for home games are traditionally black and white while there are no set colours for away games. Newcastle play at St. James Park, their home since 1891. The club plans further development to the stadium and would increase capacity to 60,000.
