Chelsea Football Shirts
Chelsea Football Club have been known as both the Pensioners and the Blues. A relative newcomer to the game (founded in 1905) the club was bought in 2003 by Russian oil magnate Roman Abramovich. In 1996 the club saw some astounding wins when Ruud Gullit, a player manager was appointed and changed the force of the team by bringing in some top players. Currently, the leadership of the team is in question when after only 7 months on the job, Luiz Felipe Scholari was dismissed.
The colours for the club is blue and white for home games and Yellow or White with Blue trim for away. Chelsea does very well for attendance and they have the 5th highest average attendance in English Football. The songs that are favored by the Chelsea fans include “Carefree”, “Blue is the Colour”, and “Ten Men went to Mow” among others. One particularly personal song, it seems is “Celery” which often results in the fans throwing celery.
Chelsea and Arsenal were the first clubs to play with shirt numbers. That began in 1928. They were also the first club to travel by aeroplane to a domestic away game in 1957. Chelsea also has the distinction of being on of the first to play a match on Sunday in 1974. In 2007 they became the first team to win the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium and they were also the last to win at the old Wembly Stadium.
